Behind the find: how something makes it onto Avelessa
One of the strange things about running an online shop is the sheer number of products you can technically sell.
Thousands. That does not mean you should.
Avelessa is still very new, and behind the scenes a lot of time is spent looking through suppliers, checking prices and trying to decide whether something deserves a place on the site.
Would somebody genuinely want this?
This sounds obvious, but there is an enormous difference between something existing and somebody actually wanting to own it.
We look for products that are useful, giftable, attractive, interesting or occasionally just a bit fun. Ideally more than one of those.
Is the price reasonable?
A nice product stops being a nice product if the final selling price becomes ridiculous.
Supplier price, delivery and selling costs all have to be taken into account. Sometimes we find something we love and simply decide not to list it because the final price would not be fair.
Can we actually explain why we like it?
If the only description we can think of is “premium must-have essential”, it probably is not coming onto Avelessa.
We want the shop to eventually become somewhere you browse because there is always something interesting to find. That means being selective.
It also means the catalogue will keep changing while we learn what you like. Truthfully, that is half the fun.
